In the spring of 2010 the next group Raízes do Brasil will be starting, with altogether 380 hours of lessons. Spread out over a period of two and a half years.

This training course in Afro-Brazilian percussion is unique in Germany, and intended for participants who want to be intensely involved with Brazilian percussion. Requirements for participation are mainly a passionate interest in music and endurance rather than actual skills previously acquired.

Percussionists who have had no contact at all to Brazilian music are also welcome. Participants bring varying degrees of skills and experience with them, so first of all the basics of each instrument, each technique and each rhythm will be on the agenda.

The intensity of the workshop, the participants’ growing together into a real group, and the practice phases between workshop blocks provide a high level of learning. This structure also offers individuals the possibility to focus on their areas of choice.

Besides the instruments of the Bateria, a special emphasis will be placed on the Conga and Pandeiro. The goal of the advanced workshop is to enable participants to lead and teach their own percussion groups.

Location for the workshop is the ideal and idyllic Burg Waldeck in Hunsrück. There will be a limited number of Congas and Surdos available for people arriving by train. The Hahn Airport is also very close and can be reached by cheap fllights from all over Germany and Europe.
