Dance & Percussion Workshop
with Dudu Tucci and Murah Soares - Parade at Carnival of Cultures

Afoxe Loni 2003Berlin's Carnival of Cultures is this capital city's favorite parade – the most fun is when you take part in it yourself in the Brazilian-German Bloco Afoxé Loni.

On Pentecost weekend (Whitsun) musicians and dancers will be polishing up the program, heading the parade, and of course having a great party.

Drummers: For twelve years, Dudu and Murah have developed a programm with rhythms from Bahia and their own compositions. Many of the musicians and dancers have been in the group for years – making it possible for everyone to be integrated into the Bloco according to his/her individual skills. We play on the Surdo, Caixa, Agogô, Timba and Shekerê. Especially Caixa and Timba players should be advanced percussionists.

Afoxe Loni 2003Dancers: Afoxé Loni is a unit of musicians and dancers. Murah Soares offers a workshop for the dancers parallel to the drummers’ workshop, to practice singing and dancing. You don’t have to be a dancer to take part, but you should know the choreography, enjoy the moves and bring good vibes and energy with you.

If you just want to walk along with us and be „a part of it all“ you are welcome to register as well.
There is a strict dress code for the Afoxé Loni costume.

We recommend that you listen to the CD Afoxé Loni – Drums of Peace to become acquainted with the repertoire.
And for those who just can't wait for the next parade in the spring, there's the opportunity to attend the monthly rehearsals for Afoxé Loni.
